Feed Central owns LocalAg.
For money held between two parties in Escrow, a mutual agreement must be received before any funds are sent to the seller or buyer. Neither party can simply “withdraw” the money. Sellers cannot access funds without the approval of the buyer. Likewise, buyers cannot withdraw the funds without the action first being proposed by the seller. It’s best if both parties to resolve disputes to access the funds held in Escrow. When a compromise or conclusion is reached, Escrow allows the release to be split by any amount to both the buyer and the seller. If a dispute can't be resolved by the two parties, our Escrow company, CheckVault, may forward the matter to the appropriate court or tribunal after approx. 10 days from the initial request to release funds. CheckVault will then release the funds as directed by the court. Escrow companies are entitled under the Escrow Deed to claim legal costs from the funds held in escrow in this regard.
It is free to list on LocalAg. See our Fees and Charges page for further info.
At LocalAg, we believe in transparency and fair pricing. Below is a detailed breakdown of the fees associated with using our platform. Zero Listing Fees! LocalAg does not charge a listing fee so you can list your items free of charge. You only pay a fee when its sold! Flat Fee: 5% To maintain and improve our services, LocalAg charges a flat fee of 5% (for most items) on every transaction made through our platform. This fee is split between the buyer and the seller as follows: • Buyer: 2.5% + GST • Seller: 2.5% + GST Grain sales have a rate of: • Buyer: 1.5% + GST • Seller: 1.5% + GST
Escrow is when a third party holds funds for a transaction between two other parties. This is used to provide absolute security to both the buyer and seller. Partial refunds and progress payments can be set up using this system.
CheckVault is the Escrow provieder used by LocalAg. They provide the security around holding your money, and making sure both parties are happy with the deal.
A seller requests an amount of money be secured in CheckVault in order to satisfy a condition in an Agreement. The money is paid to CheckVault by the buyer and stored in the buyer's CheckVault Account, I'll let you know when the funds are secured. When the conditions for release are met, the seller requests release of part/all of the funds. Then the buyer approves, and the funds are paid into the Sellers account/s as directed by the Agreement.
Yes, 0.9% on total transaction including GST, but LocalAg pays this fee on your behalf.
At LocalAg, Buyers and Sellers chat together to agree on a price, volume and delivery terms. when an Agreement is approved by both parties, an invoice is created and sent to the buyer. Buyers & Sellers can select their preferred payment methods in their profile, or when making a deal. Options are Escrow, Feed Central Account, Credit Card or PayPal. They must mutually agree to the method, then the buyer will deposit funds using the information on the invoice generated from the details of the chat and approved by both parties. The buyer then deposits the amount using the method agreed upon. For Stripe and Paypal the transfer is immediate (or as agreed by the payment company), for CheckVault and Feed Central Accounts, the money is held in “escrow” or "trust" until the terms of the contract have been met. The buyer agrees to release funds once the product has arrived and agreement is complete, this is usually after delivery and Quality checks are completed. Adjustment and Refunds occur at this time if warranted. Note: Feed Central Accounts and CheckVault have High Quality dispute resolution methods.
We will let you know in the chat and by SMS or Email if you want.
Yes, of course. Kev will provide you with a tax invoice once you have agreed on the terms of your deal. You'll also be sent a summary to confirm and then I'll have the invoice generated.
Provided both parties agree – funds can be split however you want. Refund of overpayment, or you can also partially release funds, with the rest being carried over for future release.
When an invoice is underpaid, Kev will send a reminder for the balance to the buyer. This will delay the release until the funds are secured in full in Escrow.
Unlike 30-day accounts, when you use Escrow, the money is transferred to your account on the same day as the delivery is approved by the buyer. It can take up to 3 working days if there is confirmation or authorisation needed, however this is usually completed before the agreement is created.
We will let you know in the chat and by SMS or Email if you prefer.
